Here is a lick of the spoon again, this is Chapter 4!
Fox’s
leg had been bandaged in cloth.About a week ago. His gut wrenched in
the way it did when he knew something bad was going to happen. It cannot
be the thing he dreamt. He had gained the trust of Dron enough to go
places alone, and not run away. Because, like Zronim, he sensed the
change in this boy. So Fox did his errands for the village. Around dusk,
Fox was just finishing up his errands, he just had to go to Jekhoa
again and bring him another parcel. When he neared the farm, though, he
smelt it before he heard it. Fire! He ran up the hill. As he reached
the place of the fire, hearing panicking, he heard Jekhoa shout in the
fire. He exited the stable, cradling his burnt arm.
“I didn’t see her!” he cried out, relieved.
Fox shook his head, she was in there he knew it. He didn’t know how, but, he even knew where she was!
He dropped the parcel and sped into the burning stables.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HE IS INSANE!” screamed the wench.
Fox
ignored her as he followed his gut feeling. He climbed up a ladder to
see moving hay. Fox swept the hay away. The little girl’s muffled crying
from the cloth tied around her mouth, made Fox’s heart go heavy, she
had been tied to a beam. Fox untied the muffling cloth, and took a piece
of metal and sliced through the ropes. He gathered up the girl in his
arms, and climbed the ladder. The girl whimpered and clutched onto Fox’s
shirt. He ran towards the door but beams fell down. Flames eating away
at them. Fox spun wildly, looking for another exit. His wild thoughts
echoed in his head.
“Author! WE NEED YOU! Or this girl will die!” He cried out, desperately.
There
was no sign of Zronim. So that part of the dream may or may not be true
now. The roof crackled and fell as Fox dodged it. The flames fell on
his arm.
He
screamed in agony, placing the girl on the ground to pat the fire off
his arm. He gathered the girl up again and ran towards another ladder
the fire hadn’t reached this half of the stable, yet. He ran towards a
closed window. Placing the girl on her feet as she whimpered some more,
he threw the beams to the floor and tried to force the shutters open.
Grabbing one of the beams, he rammed it into the shutters, which cracked
then smashed. There was hay in a wagon below the window.
Zronim came closer to them from the opposite side. Fox took the girl and let her jump out first. He stood, dwindling.
“Why, Zronim?” asked Fox, agonizingly.
“You lied to me! You betrayed me then you lied to me!” Zronim shouted, “I am just returning the favor!”
Fox shook his head, “You have become a monster! I don’t know you, anymore!”
“I don’t know you anymore! Since when did you think about the Author, or others?” he shouted, eyes restlessly, boring into Fox’s.
“Zronim!
Look at yourself! You have lost sleep over this?” Fox almost screamed,
“Chose to burn a family’s crops? And tied a little girl in the stable to
be burned with them?”
“I will never forget your betrayal!” Zronim screamed back.
“I never betrayed you! I just changed!”
Zronim
glared into Fox’s face of compassion. As the fire crept towards Fox. He
edged towards the window, with Zronim glaring at his movements. Fox
tried to get out without provoking a battle.
Zronim smirked, “Coward!”
Fox ignored him and jumped out.
Zronim jumped out with him and pointed the sword at him.
“Turn around and face me like a man!” he shouted as Fox kept walking. He followed Fox, “STOP!”
Fox
shut his eyes as tears of anguish slipped down his face. The entire
village had arrived to put out the fire. Zronim ran at Fox and pounced
him, pinning him to the the ground. His knife poised to kill. Fox
struggled. Then two men helped him get Zronim off and took him away.
Zronim struggled in their grip, as Fox watched him get taken away.
“TRAITOR!” he screamed at Fox, who averted his eyes.
Let me know how you like it, in the comments! TTFN ta-ta for now!
